DISCLAIMER : This is a review unit sent in by Keephifi and is not a paid review or some sort. This unit was sent for an honest overview of the unit. This is a tour review managed by my colleague Hurley Altoveros.
Today we have the Tri Meteor on our hands, the Tri Meteor is a premium IEM by TRI and I believe this is the successor of the TRI Starsea.
TRI is affiliated with KBear, the parent company. TRI focusing on premium and sophisticated IEMs. This is the first unit from TRI that I am going to
review and we'll see how it fares.
/ packaging /
TRI's packaging is a very bulky and generous one. Some would even mistake it for a smartphone, I give it a 5/5 in rating because of the number of accessories they are offering. Once you open the package you can see the pair itself and 5 pairs of silicone eartips. Once you open the box you have the 8-core OFC braided cable, a leather case with a brush inside if you want to take good care of your IEM and keep it clean, and a box labeled "accessories". Inside, we have a cloth (for cleaning, I guess), and another 3 pair of extra tips. This is a very generous package by TRI, it really feels premium and you know that big box is not just for show.

Bass 5/5
Bass is heavy, well-rounded and enhanced. You can feel the earthy texture from Meteor's bass. It has deep reaching sub-bass that I can highly recommend for bass-heads. What makes this better, despite the powerful bass, I don't feel any
mid-bass bleed on the mids and is well separated from the mids. Basically, this is the Meteor's strong point that offers punchy and earthy bass.
Mids 4/5
The mids are somewhat balanced and sometimes may sound recessed on tracks with light bass. It is average for me, I am actually expecting it to sound thicker due the bass. However, it sounds just right, very balanced. Not thick as I expected nor it is full-bodied and intimate.
Highs 4/5
TRI played it safe on the higher end, but may have played it too safe for me. They should have put a bit of air for details and emphasis on the highs. However, I like this better for my preference since these pair are inoffensive and comfortable to wear for longer periods of listening. However, don't expect any splashy hi-hats and cymbals on these pair because of the treble roll-off. So far I did not experience any sibilance on my test tracks.
Imaging and Soundstage 3/5
The Meteor has good imaging and separation. Tracks are well-placed and has good amount of space. Talking about space, the stage is not that wide but is emphasized on a general direction with average width and height. You won't expect a concert-like performance with the Meteor but is good enough to leave an ample amount of space which won't make it sound cramped and uncomfortable.
FINAL SCORE
The TRI Meteor is as chunky as its package offering beefy bass that would surely satisfy bass heads without sacrificing the mids region. The treble roll-off is something we need to work out to reveal more details on the higher region but it is not lacking for it to sound dull and pale. Not suggested for critical listening or monitoring, but highly recommended for casual listening. It is just tuned safely and would be commendable for longer listening periods, I would compare this to drinking a warm cup of coffee on a Sunday evening on the balcony.
